About the Role

Are you interested in working with a world leader in controls and automation of mobile machines to redefine the future of the agricultural industry?

We are seeking a motivated individual for a unique opportunity as a Product Engineering (Mechanical) for the development of mechanical systems of retrofit products that enable precision agriculture and autonomous capabilities for agricultural machines.

The candidate who fills this role will be involved in the development of advanced technology systems targeted that can be deployed as retrofit product to bring new capabilities to farmer’s existing equipment.  You will work as part of a cross-discipline engineering team in the product development process from the concept through deployment. Your focus area will be the development of the mechanical assemblies that integrate the product to the machine, this includes analysis, integration, and verification of components that make up the system including actuators, sensing systems, and controls components. The mechanical design will need consider functionality, robustness, ergonomics, and cost, to result in designs that bring the strongest value to end users.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering and technical support for the design, development, and evaluation of mechanical assemblies of JCA retrofit products including requirements development, concept drawings, CAD modelling, drawing creation, DFM review, procurement and supplier support, and verification testing.
• Document updates to designs and ensure that any changes are recorded and prepared in accordance with engineering change procedures.
• Have the ability to manage tasks to meet technical requirements of assigned components, systems, and/or project(s).
• Work within a multidisciplinary development team to provide mechanical design solutions and analysis solutions to meet design specifications.
• Work with the engineering team to provide cost effective solutions to design challenges.
• Support environmental and machine field testing with verification & validation team

Qualifications

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience of machine and/or product design experience with complex equipment and/or systems
• Knowledge of mechanical components, hydraulic systems, or electro-mechanical systems
• Knowledge of mechanical components suppliers and design processes for plastics (injected moulding, 3D printing) and metals (casting, machined, etc.)
• Experience with a CAD system
• Agricultural background with detailed knowledge of agricultural machinery is an asset
• Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills
• The ability to effectively work as part of a cross-discipline project team and communicate status and progress of responsible tasks and objectives
